Since 2024 · Park Street, Kolkata
A garden where
stories grow
Bagicha — meaning “garden” — is where food, people, and stories grow together. Tucked into a sun-dappled corner of Park Street, we’re part neighbourhood cafe, part soulful Indian kitchen, and entirely a place that feels like yours.
The Kitchen
Where it all
comes together
Our menu is a love letter to Indian home cooking, reimagined without pretension. The dal still simmers for 18 hours. The naan still puffs up in a tandoor that’s been fired since morning. But alongside the classics, you’ll find cold brew coffee, sourdough toast, and a dessert counter that regularly causes people to cancel their diets.
The Garden
Step into
Aalap
Step outside to Aalap — our open-air lawn where fairy lights meet the Kolkata sky. Named after the opening notes of a raga, it’s the kind of space where kids run free, friends lose track of time, and grandparents settle into their favourite corner chair. Whether it’s a lazy Sunday brunch, a birthday under the stars, or just chai with someone you’ve missed — Aalap is where the real conversations happen.
We opened in 2024 with one goal: make food that a 6-year-old would fight their sibling over, a college student would skip a lecture for, and a grandparent would quietly nod at in approval. Pull up a chair — the garden has room for everyone.
What drives us
Three promises we keep
Ingredients first
We source locally, seasonally, and sustainably. Every ingredient earns its place on the plate. No frozen imports, no shortcuts.
Cooked with patience
Every sauce from scratch. Every bread baked fresh. Our dal simmers for 18 hours because anything less wouldn’t be honest.
Warmth, not service
Our team is trained to make every guest feel welcome — not served, but genuinely cared for. That’s the difference.
